The Experiment: Day 28… and onward

Ok. The experiment is over. Yay! I posted one new pic, but no more for awhile (until this rash clears up).

As the whole experiment only consisted of 8 workout sessions and I missed 3, I’m sure I could have done better. Add that to the fact that my diet sucked pretty much throughout and I know I wasn’t eating nearly enough. But I’m content and motivated. My strength has definitely improved as has the size of my shoulders and arms.

Since this was the last session, I used it as the ‘kick off’ to the next round where I’ll be making some minor adjustments:

1. Warm-up. HIT generally calls for “1 set to failure” without any warm-up. Well, the other day I read about a phenomenon known as the pump. The idea of ‘front-loading’ the muscles with blood and nutrients THEN working them to failure makes more sense. So I started today’s workout (and likely will going forward given the result) with a high-rep set of bench-presses and rows at about half the weight I would use later. It definitely got the blood flowing and made me feel like I could push harder. It’s possible this is totally psychological, but I liked the feeling.
