It ain’t just a river in Egypt, folks

I came across this article in the LA Times about California Representative Duncan Hunter’s outrage that the main stream media (specifically, CNN) would show video footage of an Iraqi sniper killing an American soldier.

According to the article, in a letter to Donald Rumsfeld, he and his cohorts “called the film ‘nothing short of a terrorist snuff film,’” and are asking the Pentagon to remove embedded CNN journalists.

Honestly, I don’t think Hunter’s opinion of the sad situation in Iraq is ‘denial’.  Rather, I think he feels it is his and the government’s duty to “protect” American citizens (especially those who watch CNN) from the truth.  We have enough people who know someone, or who know someone who knows someone that’s been killed in Iraq.  The last thing we need is CNN to start broadcasting this stuff and letting everyone else in on the secret.

That’s right, folks.  Lots of people are being killed in Iraq. Surprisingly, many of them are American soldiers.  But some people in the government, apparently, don’t want you to know how bad it really is.
