More on being stuck

A few years ago, on my way to Detroit in the Amigo, I had an alternator die. I swear I only made it 20 miles or so on ‘battery only’. But perhaps that’s because I wasn’t sure what was going on and still had the cell-phone charger plugged in, radio and A/C on, etc. But just a while ago, I read a post that said the average car battery can run 15-20 hours on battery alone.

Still stuck

Last night I popped onto the Planet Isuzoo Forums to research my problems. I’m not sure how I didn’t notice, but the bracket that broke holds the pulley that drives the radiator fan. The sounds I was hearing were both the loose metal bracket hitting the engine and the fan (which is now out of place) striking the shroud that surrounds it.

Snow storms

Last Tuesday night we had a pretty bad snowstorm. Wednesday morning, I had an early conference call that I attended from home and lasted about 90 min. I didn’t even leave the house until 9:30a. So I slowly made my way to the auto shop to have a new ignitor coil installed on the Amigo, fixing a cylinder misfire. The mechanics also found that there is a vacuum leak somewhere causing most of my performance problems. But that would have to wait until next week while parts were ordered.

The MX-5.1

I’ll eventually create a seperate "topic" just for this… my CarPuter project. But for now… as I haven’t posted in awhile, you’re probably wondering what’s keeping me so busy.

Aside from travel and work, I’ve become obsessed with replacing the factory BOSE (stands for "Better Off with Something Else) stereo with my own creation. I had no idea how much thought and research would go into this when I started. But, as with all things, the more I learn, the more excited I become. Turns out there are about a million things to consider.
