I betcha’ wonder how I do it

Last night I was sitting in the unfinished Cozy, in the incredibly comfortable naugahyde chair that belonged to my great-grandmother, trying to imagine the wall behind the bar and what it would look like with the large Killian’s Irish Red pub-mirror hanging back there. I didn’t especially like what my mind saw. It just looked drab. So I let my mind wander onto other complexities such as, where will I store glasses, liquor, wine, etc? That’s when it hit me. I need a "back bar" like they have in real taverns!

It all starts with an idea. This time I decided I would take you, the reader, through the entire process… from concept through finished product.

Oh, for cryin’ out loud!

A long time ago I concluded that religion would lead to the end of civilization. I’m beginning to think along those same lines again.

Today, a friend forwarded this this link to an article at Yahoo! News. Read it.

Why are people so stupid?

‘Fahrenheit 9/11′

No. I haven’t seen it yet. I’ll probably wait til it comes out on video. I’ve read a lot about it, though, from various sources including follow-up articles by Moore himself.

Everyone knows I’m not a Bush fan. But that definitely doesn’t make me a Michael Moore fan. After I saw ‘Bowling for Columbine’ several months ago, then researched the statistics, the speeches he clipped, etc, I found it to be something exactly unlike the truth.

With ‘Fahrenheit 9/11′, while I agree with the conclusions he reaches, his arguments are a lot like lies and propaganda. It concerns me that he has no sense of journalistic ethics. Who cares how you get someone to agree with you… as long as they agree in the end, right?

Cutting off people’s heads

After screwing around with my HTPC most of the evening, I decided it was time to catch up on the latest news of the world. That’s when I read this article on CNN.com about the Korean guy being beheaded.

Then I thought about Berg, that reporter who was beheaded a long time ago… and that other guy, Johnson, who was beheaded last week.

Then I thought about the recent Discovery Channel program on capital punishment which reviewed the difficulties involved in decapitation.

Then I thought…"eww… that’s nasty business."

Once again, I demonstrate my immortality

After spending many, many hours working on the HTPC (Home Theater Personal Computer) for The Cozy, it died again this weekend.

I say "again" because it’s a regular occurrence for this machine. It runs a few months just fine, then freezes. I have to leave it turned off for several days before it will come back. Before, when it was just a "junk" PC I used for playing around, it wasn’t a big deal. But now it plays a crucial part of my something-exactly-unlike-social-life, so it couldn’t be tolerated!

A productive weekend

I got so much done on the bar! And it’s only 3pm on Sunday, so there’s a lot I can still do. I’m taking a break now, so let’s hope I don’t lose my motivation.

Half-a-day off…

Today I decided I had better things to do and left work around noon to come home and work on The Cozy.

Check out the new pics!

Ok, maybe I’ve become a bit obsessed with this

Since last week when I first had the idea about connecting a PC to the TV in The Cozy and remotely browsing/playing my MP3’s, I’ve been searching for ways to make it even better.

There were some different music sorting options I wanted and a way to make things better visually. I searched the MediaJukebox help forums when I found that I had the wrong product all-together. What I wanted was MediaCenter.

"Cozy" Entertainment

Despite the previous post, it was a productive weekend. I worked on the Cozy. But I didn’t work on the bar, nor finishing the walls or anything "remodeling"-related. Instead, I worked on the entertainment system.

Wicked cool!

Vanilla Ice said it best

First, my dear, dear friend Marie sent me a link yesterday to an article written by my favorite author, Kurt Vonnegut. It’s a MUST READ!

Second, and maybe I give myself more credit than I’m really due… but I don’t think so. I just have to say… damn, I’m one helluva smart guy.
