Reflections on the past year: My friends…

This is a complicated area. After much introspection, I decided that I had many friends with "poison personalities". You know the type… those who always have something to complain about… the world isn’t fair, but nothing bad in their life is EVER their fault. Well, I cut all of those people out of my life completely.

Reflections on the past year: My career…

By January I was "self-employed". I had started my own consulting company specializing in disaster recovery and business continuity planning. I called it ‘Aion Solutions’.

Reflections on the past year…

Yes, today is December 31. Tomorrow starts a new year. As is tradition now, it seems, I sit here reflecting upon where I was this time one year ago and what I’ve done, accomplished, failed, learned and how I’ve grown.

So, where was I one year ago? I was living in my apartment in Bloomington. It was a nice place… I’d say the 2nd nicest apartment I’ve ever had. I was in a state of flux and confusion as I’d lost my job almost 3 months earlier due to the company I was working for, Teletron, had filed bankruptcy and closed its doors.

Anyway, I started writing this entry and decided it’s too long for a single entry. Therefore, I’ve broken it up into several posts. Scroll up to read them.

Huh huh, Butt-head, check it out. "Hard wood"

Yesterday I made one last trip to Lowe’s for some tar paper, some heavier nails and a can of poly-urethane floor sealer… then got started on laying down the floors in ‘The Cozy".

I’m about 3/4 of the way through, and my back is killing me. I only did a few rows yesterday to get started, but got up at 6am this morning to hopefully get it all finished today. It’s almost 6pm, and if my arms hold out, it’s still my goal.

It’s a Code-Orange Christmas!

First, Happy Christmas, Kwanza, Chanuka, Winter Solstice or whatever your reason for taking the next few days off work!

I saw an interesting bit last night on MSNBC regarding the lack of security measures taken with respect to commercial cargo planes. It was a Democrat Senator (I can’t remember where from) talking about how Americans are expected to pay for beefing up security at airports, taking off their shoes and having every piece of baggage and even Christmas packages thoroughly inspected, while the same packages can be shipped on cargo planes with virtually no security at all. Pretty enlightening.

Catching Saddam…

This morning before getting my day started, I turned on CNN to get caught up. Turns out the U.S. military has captured Saddam Hussein.

I’m kind of surprised CNN is devoting so much time to this event. I mean, it’s not as if they’ve discovered the weapons of mass destruction Bush used to justify this whole exercise.

Sean Connery….

This has nothing to do with Sean Connery, James Bond 007, Highlander, Nick Cage or anything else Connery-related other than I am currently watching some movie on Sci-Fi about a meteor… and he’s in it.

This has everything to do with nothing. Now, the concept of "nothing" has always perplexed me because it can mean so much, or so little.

Anyway, the real reason I’m posting is to advertise the new site I put together for my mom. You can check it out at Sherry’s Place. Obvioiusly it’s a PostNuke site, but as I did with my own, I added several tweaks to make it ohhhhh… 25% better.
