The Cozy

Many of you know I was addicted to "While You Were Out" (though I haen’t watched it since Theresa Strasser left the show). One thing I was really looking forward to about being a home-owner is some freedom to remodel the place however I want.

My first project is to take advantage of the Vermont wood-burning stove in the family room and turn it into a rustic tavern where my friends and I can relax, talk, and have a beer. Naming it after a bar where I used to hang out, and because of the atmosphere I hope to create, I’m going to call it "The Cozy."

A couple people have asked to see some pictures, so, though the project is moving very slowly, here they are.

Welcome to the real world, Neo…

I’ve had this pic for a month or so now, but I think I’ll finally post it because I have nothing better to do.

So here is a picture of my bud, Charity, with her new puppy, Neo.

Bowling for Columbine?

I watched Bowling for Columbine last night and some things in it rubbed me the wrong way. He kept bringing up distortion and fear in the media, and so I thought I’d put his own film to the test and research his sources a bit. Yikes!

Here is a page of criticisms:

And this is Moore’s rebuttle:

He admits to, what I see are, the most important criticisms. After watching the film, my ‘take away’ was the question, "Why are Americans killing each other with guns more often than in other societies?" He tries to refute claims that "we need more gun control" and "Americans have a violent history". He shows us that other societies have as many guns, and in some cases more violent histories than we do. So he comes back to U.S. media instilling fear and paranoia.

Knight Rider

I came home sick today from work. I stayed til around 1p, but couldn’t take it anymore. I had to lay down.

So I got home and watched Knight Rider for the first time in years. I can’t believe I liked that show when I was a kid. I mean… it’s bad… worse than the Dukes of Hazzard (another childhood favorite).

Well… I’m off to watch Stargate SG-1. I wonder what I’ll look back and think of SG-1 20 years from now. Hmmm…

Ho, hummmm….

Over the weekend I decided to negate the painstaken work I’ve already done, meticulously applying, sanding, then re-applying joint compoind to the walls in the family room so the paint-finish would be smooth. Yes, I decided to go with stucco instead. It’s going to kick ass.

So, tonight, after work I took a trip to Lowe’s for some MORE joint compound and paint. Of course by the time I got home it was too late to really do anything, but I’ll get started tomorrow. Did I already say it’s going to kick ass!?!

Revelations

The other day a Jewish friend and I were talking about what makes pigs and rabbits "unclean". Of course, I wouldn’t be able to sleep without knowing, so I dug out my Bible and read some Leviticus. It was interesting to discover that it isn’t because they are "filthy animals" as she felt/believed, but because they DON’T chew their cud (as cows do). In God’s eyes, an animal isn’t clean unless, among other things, it chews it’s own regurgitated, half-digested vomit.

But while I had ‘the good book’ out, I thought I’d take a peek at Revelations. I was trying to find out where the idea of the "Rapture" (where all those Heaven-bound are suddenly sucked away) came from. Surprise. Turns out I can’t find it. I’m going to have to read someone else’s interpretation, I guess.

Anyway… after my reading, and after a weekend of introspection, I have decided that the human race should just give up. We should sterilize EVERYONE, let those of us living die as nature sees fit, and call it "a good effort".
