Nothing too exciting…

Things have been somewhat lax in my personal life as I prepare for the big move. I’m picking up the keys on Friday. Yay.

Work is a different story. I had a visit from a colleague from Germany, spent the weekend entertaining and overseeing a massive systems upgrade. On Tuesday my network engineer and I went to visit our site in Kentucky. Then today my team spent the day fighting computer viruses.

Joy.

An early start

Because I consider my specialty disaster recovery and business continuity, I couldn’t help but take today a bit less than seriously.

Since I first started consulting for the company I work for now, I have been pushing the importance of continuity planning. But the task keeps getting re-prioritized.

This morning I got a call at 4:30am (they’d been trying to wake me since 2am) that our WAN was down.

The homeless home-owner…

In order to terminate my lease early, my apartment complex required 90 days notice. Since I expected to close on the house much sooner than I did, I, back in early July, told the management that I’d be out Aug 9. But, since that isn’t 90 days, I thought I really had the place until the end of Sept.

I may have screwed up.
